Whether you are looking to rent a passenger van, box truck, or commercial truck rental vehicle, we are happy to answer any questions you may have.

RENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Must meet the minimum age, insurance and license requirements as listed below. All customers must also provide a valid credit card.

AGE REQUIREMENTS

The minimum age to rent from Merchants is 25.

INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS

Merchants does not extend liability coverage and will require proof of liability insurance prior to rental.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

All renters must possess a valid United States driver's license. International license may also be accepted, but must be approved in advance. For full details, please contact us.

MILEAGE ALLOWANCE

Most vehicles* are rented daily with unlimited mileage in New England (Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire and Rhode Island). A $10 per day surcharge will apply to destinations outside New England.

*Cube vans do not have unlimited mileage rates unless special arrangements are made in advance.

Additional drivers may be added to rental contracts provided the additional driver also meets the rental qualifications. Additional charges may be applicable. Any driver in your immediate family (parent, spouse or child) may drive the rental vehicle at no additional charge, provided they meet our rental requirements.

VEHICLE HOLD POLICY

Merchants will honor all reservations up to 59 minutes past the time of the reservation. Changes to reservations can be made up to this time without penalty. Some classes of vehicles require a security deposit for the reservation. All vehicles are subject to availability after the grace period of the reservation. To make changes to reservations, please contact us at 1-800-288-6999.

Merchants works on a 24-hour clock with a one-hour grace period for most rentals. Vehicles should be returned within one hour of the pick up time on the final day of the rental contract. Insurance replacement rentals work on a calendar day and will be billed accordingly. Any questions regarding the return time should be directed to your rental agent.

CUSTOMER DELIVERY AND VEHICLE PICKUP

Merchants offers customer pick up and drop off based on the availability of our drivers provided. Pickup and Drop-off service must be scheduled in advance.  Please contact us at 1-800-288-6999 for full details.

BREAKDOWNS

All of our vehicles are late model, low mileage models that are fully maintained, but unfortunately every once in a while a vehicle has a mechanical problem. In the case of a breakdown during business hours, our friendly staff is more than willing to offer assistance. Please contact us at 1-800-288-6999 and our staff will guide you in the right direction.

If the breakdown occurs during non-business hours, rest assured that we have a network of national vendors that will get you back on the road in no time. Your rental agent will give you all the information you need at the time of your rental should a mechanical breakdown occur.

FUEL POLICY

All vehicles rented need to be returned with the same amount of fuel as received upon rental.

FEES & SURCHARGES

All rental vehicles are subject to state taxes. A 2.75% license recovery fee may also apply. Other fees may apply. Please refer to your rental contract for full details.

INSURANCE AND ADDITIONAL COVERAGE

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) waives financial responsibility for the vehicle for loss of use charges or damages.

Deductible Waiver (DW) waives financial responsibility for the vehicle for loss of use charges or damages up to a $500 deductible.
