Getting Licensed for the Children

Nonprofit Fleet Solution

The Challenge

As a large nonprofit organization in Greater Boston, cost-effective, safe and reliable transportation is needed for the many children and others that participate in the organization's programs. Vans and buses were needed, as well as help in getting their drivers to obtain the 7D license required to operate the vehicles under Massachusetts' law when transporting children.

The Merchants Solution

Merchants Fleet Management was able to help the nonprofit with a closed-end lease covering about 20 vehicles (a mix of passenger vans and small buses) to help them maintain their budget, while also providing fleet management services, including full maintenance, upfitting the vehicles with the specialty lights and interior needs to protect the passengers. Additionally, Merchants helped the nonprofit with training their drivers and licensing them with the proper 7D certification.

The Results

The nonprofit was able to provide much needed transportation to the children and others participating in their programs and services with the appropriate safe vehicles and drivers.
